How is my M-pesa account created?
Vodafone ensures safety, privacy of all our customer accounts. M-pesa account is created only on receipt of registration details of the customer along with the explicit consent of the customer, as per RBI guidelines. Customer can open a m-pesa wallet by registering on MyVodafone App. An inoperative wallet is created following the acceptance of terms and conditions mentioned therein. This M-pesa account is operational/activated only on receipt of explicit consent of the customer who needs to put in the secure m-pin.
With Aadhaar based re verification, will my Aadhaar be linked and auto create a Vodafone M-pesa account for me?
The telco Aadhaar based re-verification does not open a Vodafone M-pesa account automatically. An M-pesa account is operational/activated only on receipt of registration details of the customer along with the explicit consent of the customer, as per RBI guidelines.
Can I receive government subsidies in my M-Pesa account?
No. Aadhaar based seeding and subsidy distribution is not allowed by RBI through mobile wallet issuers such as Vodafone M-Pesa and is only done through banks/payment banks. Vodafone m-pesa Limited (VMPL) is not a bank. VMPL has been authorized by Reserve Bank of India under Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007 for setting up and operating a payment system (mobile wallet) in India.
